Monika Kalla:
The metaphor of women as forces of nature is both powerful and evocative, reflecting the diverse and dynamic roles they play in society. Comparing women to the four classical elements – fire, water, earth, and air – allows us to explore the many dimensions of their strength, resilience, and transformative power. By appreciating these qualities, we can better recognize and support the vital roles women play in shaping our world.
The girl who enchanted foreign investors with her work. Rescuing ancient craftsmanship from oblivion, she created a brand that foreign millionaires invest in. When I say the word "knife," you think of an object used since prehistoric times. When I say "knife," I think of a work of art, packaged in the most beautiful wooden, handcrafted boxes.
Since childhood, I have been fascinated by art and expressed my creativity through various artistic forms. I used to sew doll clothes - always hidden somewhere, I created my little creations, and today? Today, as a self-aware woman, I have combined my talent with my passion and express my uniqueness on knives. I used to be a dreamy girl, and today I am a woman with a vision - consistently pursuing my goals.
I began to realize my vision over 10 years ago, always consciously following the voice of my heart. Despite the fact that not many people in Poland had heard of me (I always heard voices of opposition, saying that it wouldn't work, and with determination, I promised myself that the world would hear about me first, and then Poland - perhaps wrongly), I have already won the hearts of foreign exhibitions. Starting with international painting workshops and later during sculpture workshops while studying, I developed manual skills and spatial perception. I am a member of the Guild of Various Crafts and Entrepreneurship in Katowice. I have participated in international exhibitions such as:
Additionally, I am the winner of the Glenfiddich WHERE NEXT - Creators of Change 2023 competition and a finalist in the Angels of Craft competition organized by Mrs. Izabela Łapińska and presented in the Royal Łazienki Museum in Warsaw in November 2023.
I based the philosophy of my company on the models of companies such as Patek Philippe, The Macallan, and Ferrari. Within a year, a strictly defined number of works are created (this is due to the time required - sometimes several months), not exceeding a few pieces that make up a collection - just like whiskey collections. Each knife, along with its packaging, is a "one of a kind" project - unique. I hide various symbols in my works - subtle, not easily visible at first glance, and I write a full description of the techniques, style, and symbolism contained in the engraving for each work. The knife I create grows into a work of art - enclosed in appropriate frames, which is the packaging that continues the engraving. The boxes are handcrafted from the finest wood. The veneer on the box lid often consists of hundreds of small elements creating a whole. I recently presented my creation, the Falcon, at an exhibition in Saudi Arabia. The titanium knife is inlaid with 24-karat gold and studded with diamonds.
My knives are in private collections around the world, including India, Qatar, the Netherlands, Switzerland, England, Poland, and the USA. I say about myself: I want to be the Fabergé of the 21st century. I want to create art that is treated as an investment - desirable and unprecedented.
As an engraving artist, I not only demonstrate a deep understanding of engraving techniques but also follow my passion and trust in the creative process. For me, creating a knife is a challenge that requires patience and focus. The works are the result of careful analysis, conversations with the client, and the search for new materials and original solutions.
My works not only captivate with their beauty but, above all, convey emotions. I aim for my works to evoke various feelings and encourage reflection. I want my works to be not only ornaments but also a source of inspiration and dialogue with the viewers. My works are a combination of art, passion, and precision, created with dedication and love for the craft of engraving.
