TLIM KNIVES

My name is Mariusz "Tlim" Przybyłowski.

For a few years now I have been dealing with manual production of knives.
Initially, it was purely hobbyistic, but after a few years, my passion turned into the
main professional activity handicraft production of knives.

In the beginning, the main center of my interest was damask steel. At that time most
of my knives were forged, most of them were damask knives, mainly hunting knives
fra med with natural materials such as wood, leather or antlers.
Today, apart from hunting knives and damask knives, in my studio tactical knives,
collector's knives, survival knives such as bushcraft or nesssmuk are also made.
Apart from damask and carbon ste el, some of my knives are made of high alloyed
stainless steel. Sometimes I use protective coatings on the blades like hard chrome. I
make knife handles not only from wood or antlers but also from synthetic materials
such as micarta or G10 „Toxic” knives

At all times I try to develop not only the pool of materials from which I make knives,
but also work on the workshop and expanding my knowledge.

I take the stage of steel preparation and heat treatment very seriously. I am
systematically deepening my k nowledge in this area. In the past, I used to harden
and tempered steel for knives, today I precede hardening with other heat treatment
processes. Steel is subject to processes of structural optimization removal of
carbide nets, grain reduction. The blad es are normalized, spheroidized, before
grinding and annealing afterward, then hardened and tempered. For some time
now, part of the blade, especially for bushcraft knives, are hardened to bainite,
which gives additional blade strength, so needed for a kni fe in the field or a knife
designed for survival.

Each blade undergoes a multi
cyclical heat and mechanical treatment, which makes
the finished product not only aesthetic but also fully functional.
